Learn how Gavety works

1Prepare Your Hardware

Ensure your device — Raspberry Pi 3/4/5, mini PC, or old laptop — has Ubuntu or Debian Linux installed and is connected to the internet. Gavety supports both ARM64 (Raspberry Pi) and x86_64 architectures. You don't need a static IP or open ports — see how global access works behind any network.

2Create Your Account

From any browser, go to gavety.com/auth and create a new account. Your account manages your private cloud devices — all encrypted, all yours. Your files never touch our servers; learn more about our zero-knowledge data protection.

3Add a New Device

After logging in, click Add New Device. Complete the one-time setup payment and minimal yearly infrastructure fee to receive your unique installation command. Pricing is flat-rate regardless of how much storage you use — see the storage pricing comparison to understand why this matters.

4Run the Installation Command

Copy your unique command from the dashboard and paste it into your Ubuntu terminal. The command looks like this:

# Your personalised command from the dashboard
$ curl -fsSL install.gavety.com/your-token | bash
You will be asked to enter your system password. This is required to install the Gavety P2P agent and securely mount your drives. This is the only terminal step in the entire setup.
Keep your device powered ON and internet connected during the 3–5 minute installation. Do not interrupt the process.

5Optimisation & Headless Setup

Once the terminal confirms success:

Setup complete. Your device will appear as Online in your dashboard within 60 seconds.

6Access from Anywhere

From any phone, tablet, or PC worldwide, log into app.gavety.com. Your device will show as Online. Click Access Device to browse, upload, download, and share your files — with no monthly storage fees. Gavety's outbound tunnel means this works even behind CGNAT or strict firewalls.
